Army in Africa photo contest launched

By SETAF-Africa Public Affairs SETAF-Africa Vicenza, Italy Feb 24, 2023

U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa has launched a "Army in Africa Monthly Photo Contest" on its social media platforms. The purpose of the photo contest is showcase images of U.S. Army professionals engaged on the African continent.

Each month, SETAF-AF will announce the winning photographer on its Web site and social media platforms. The winning image(s) will also be displayed in and around the SETAF-AF headquarters, and marketed to Army and DoD-affiliated calls for imagery as appropriate.

Submissions must be received no later than the last day of the month for consideration. Winners will be announced the first week of the following month on Web and social media.

Anyone in Africa supporting Army efforts can submit their imagery. Units deployed to or TDY to Africa, State Partnership Programs, SETAF-AF directorates, embassy staff, and other organizations are encouraged to participate in the photo contest any time they send personnel to the continent.

To enter, submit high resolution imagery (minimum 1 MB) to setaf_media@army.mil or via direct message on SETAF-AF social media platforms. Include a description of what’s happening in the photo, including full name and rank of any U.S. military personnel depicted.

Photos must be original work free of copyright, with no digital manipulation (i.e. flipping orientations of subjects, addition/subtraction of photo elements, blurring of faces, inserting colors not present in the photo, etc.)

SETAF-AF will select winners based on the principles of photography and the interest the imagery generates. Preference will go to recent imagery (taken within 30-60 days). Photos from 2022 and earlier are ineligible. Remember, the intent is to show the Army in Africa.
