Working together to build readiness

U.S. service members from the 485th Engineering Company out of Machesney Park/Arlington Heights, Illinois work alongside members of the Rwanda Defence Force to prepare an area for cement at the Rwanda Military Academy, Gacko, Rwanda during Exercise Shared Accord 19 on August 18, 2019. During the exercise, the engineering company and members of the Rwandan Defence Force are working together to clear and prepare an area for a future displaced persons training site. Shared Accord 2019, which runs Aug. 14- 28, is focused on bringing together U.S. and Rwandan forces, African partner militaries, allies and international organizations to increase readiness, interoperability, and partnership building between participating nations for peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic. This collaboration marks the first interaction with MDF chaplains since 2019, highlighting a renewed commitment to partnership and religious support.
