He was commissioned as an infantry officer in the Army Reserve in 1983. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Civil Affairs Officer Advanced Course, the United States Army Command and General Staff College, the United States Army War College and the Advanced Joint Professional Military Education.

U.S. Army Africa completes first 2017 MEDRETE
U.S. Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Kenneth H. Moore, the deputy commanding general for U.S. Army Africa and commander of its Army Reserve Engagement Cell, salutes a Senegalese Armed Forces Platoon upon entering the Hospital Militaire De Ouakam in Dakar, Senegal, for the Medical Readiness Training Exercise 17-1 Closing Ceremony, Jan. 25, 2017. MEDRETE is a combined effort between the Senegalese government, U.S. Army Africa, the U.S. Army Reserve 332nd Medical Brigade in Nashville, Tenn., and the Vermont Air National Guard. MEDRETE 17-1 is the first in a series of medical readiness training exercises that U.S. Army Africa is scheduled to facilitate within various countries in Africa, and serves as an opportunity for the partnered militaries to hone and strengthen their general surgery and trauma skills while reinforcing the partnership between the countries.

Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, of the 1st Brigade Combat Team "Bastogne", 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), spent four weeks observing and mentoring basic combat training cadre of the FAN.
The Bastogne Brigade is the regionally allocated force supporting U.S. Army Africa events and exercises across the African continent this year.

USARAF CG meets diplomats in Milan; Discusses Africa mission
U.S. Army Africa commanding general, Maj. Gen. Joseph P. Harrington met with consulate generals from Morocco, Turkey, Senegal, Germany, Algeria, and the Netherlands as well as the Italian ministry of foreign affairs based in Italy Nov. 30, 2016 to discuss the role of USARAF on the African Continent and the continued friendship with Italy. The meeting, hosted by Consulate General Milan Philip Reeker, was designed to give a better insight of USARAF missions to key African partners and European allies within the U.S. Consulate Milan Region.

Engineer training strengthens U.S., Kenyan armed forces partnership
