US, Nigerian soldiers participate in advanced infantry training
Soldiers from the U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization and the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division participated in an advanced infantry training with the Nigerian 26th Infantry Battalion Jan. 15-19 at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry in Jaji, Nigeria.
The training’s purpose is increasing lethality, survivability and sustainability capabilities for near-term operations combating Boko Haram and other threats, as well as strengthening a long-term relationship between the forces, leading to increased regional stability when combating national threats in country and abroad. The Joint Service General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) is a lightweight, protective mask system incorporating state-of-the-art technology to protect U.S. Joint forces from actual or anticipated threats. There are two variants: The M-50 for ground and shipboard personnel and the M-51 for armored combat vehicle crewman. The annual tradition was an opportunity to share American culture with soldiers and airmen of the Cameroonian Defense Force. The Soldiers from the U.S. Army Fort Drum & 10th Mountain Division, are in Cameroon to support Cameroon military efforts to combat regional violent extremism from Boko Haram ad ISIS West Africa.

Members of the Gabonese Armed Forces and U.S. Army Civil Affairs Team (CAT) 8324, conduct a map reconnaissance and discuss counter illicit trafficking operations, Libreville, Gabon, Sept. 25.
