Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, of the 1st Brigade Combat Team "Bastogne", 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), spent four weeks observing and mentoring basic combat training cadre of the FAN.
The Bastogne Brigade is the regionally allocated force supporting U.S. Army Africa events and exercises across the African continent this year.

The senior leaders of the South African National Defense Forces discussed training and exercise opportunities for 2017 during the U.S. and Republic of South Africa Bilateral Defense Committee meeting October 26 at the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. USARAF CG meets diplomats in Milan; Discusses Africa mission
U.S. Army Africa commanding general, Maj. Gen. Joseph P. Harrington met with consulate generals from Morocco, Turkey, Senegal, Germany, Algeria, and the Netherlands as well as the Italian ministry of foreign affairs based in Italy Nov. 30, 2016 to discuss the role of USARAF on the African Continent and the continued friendship with Italy. The meeting, hosted by Consulate General Milan Philip Reeker, was designed to give a better insight of USARAF missions to key African partners and European allies within the U.S. Consulate Milan Region.

Engineer training strengthens U.S., Kenyan armed forces partnership
Engineers from the Massachusetts National Guard and their State Partnership Program counterparts from the Kenya Defence Forces Engineer Brigade conduct overseas deployment training Dec. 5-9, 2016, at Thika Barracks near Nairobi, Kenya. The training, which concludes in April, includes skill building and facilitating interoperability between the partner militaries.
