From the Dan Twum complex in Ghana to the Ben Ghiluf Training Arean in Tunisia; from Dodji, Senegal to a friendly football (soccer) tournament in Agadir, Morocco - here's a look at the past weekend during African Lion 22. AL22 is U.S. Africa Command's largest, premier, joint, annual exercise hosted by Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia, June 6 - 30. More than 7,500 participants from 28 nations and NATO train together with a focus on enhancing readiness for U.S. and partner nation forces. AL22 is a joint all-domain, multi-component, and multinational exercise, employing a full array of mission capabilities with the goal to strengthen interoperability among participants and set the theater for strategic access. Swift Response 22: SETAF-AF, 173rd Airborne exercise joint forcible entry

The 173rd Airborne Brigade performed jump training over Italy in support of Exercise Swift Response. Swift Response is an annual U.S. Army Europe and Africa multinational training exercise in Eastern Europe, the Arctic High North, Baltics, and Balkan. From May 2, 2022 to May 20, 2022, approximately 9,000 service members from 17 Allied and partner nations participated in the exercise, including approximately 2,700 U.S. Army Soldiers and U.S. Air Force Airmen. Justified Accord '22 comes to an end

Exercise Justified Accord allows the US and our African partners to support enduring peace and stability in the region. Over 800 personnel are participating in the exercise which includes a multinational field training exercise and a command post exercise. Justified Accord is an annual and multinational military exercise focusing on African partner capability and interoperability in support of United Nations and Africa Union peace support operations. The exercise, which started on Feb. 28, seeks to improve multinational interoperability and to incorporate regional civilian, police, and military entities into training.

Paratroopers jump with partners in Tunisia

Body-cam video: Paratroopers from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and 173rd Airborne Brigade joined Tunisia Armed Forces in an airborne exercise near Bizerte, Tunisia, March 3-4. Approximately 50 Soldiers from SETAF-AF and 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, parachuted alongside 50 Tunisian military counterparts onto the Al Amila drop zone on Sidi Ahmed Air Base near Bizerte, Tunisia. The paratroopers jumped from U.S. and Tunisian military aircraft, qualifying them for an exchange of foreign jump wings. U.S. and Tunisian soldiers presented each other parachutist badges in a ceremony March 4. While the militaries have joined together in a number of military exercises, including African Lion last year, this was the first U.S.-Tunisia airborne exercise in a decade.

U.S., Senegal partner for military medical exercise

A team of 16 U.S. Army medical professionals from the 44th Medical Brigade, work with Senegal Armed Force medical personnel at Ouakam Military Hospital in Dakar, Senegal, Jan. 24 to Feb. 10, 2022, during a medical readiness exercise. A MEDREX, or medical readiness exercise, is coordinated by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa. They allow military medical personnel from the U.S. Army and African militaries to exchange medical practices and techniques, that build and strengthen treatment capabilities. The exercise expose participants to different medical delivery methods, and ultimately improve each participant's capacity to assess and employ care to Soldiers.
