Dakar, Senegal – The U.S. Army, in partnership with the Senegalese Defence Force, will conduct combined Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) 16-1, in Dakar, Senegal, from January 18-29.
Medical military personnel from Senegal and the U.S. will participate in this exercise that allows medical professionals from both militaries to build and strengthen medical treatment capability and capacity.
MEDRETE 16-1 allows U.S. forces to train in an alternatively-resourced environment, share medical procedures, and build lasting relationships with Senegalese medical professionals.
Senegalese medical professionals enhance the Senegalese health care system’s ability to deliver effective general surgery and trauma response in support of regional UN and African Union missions.
Once the exercise is complete, U.S. participants will return to their home stations.
