U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa is supporting 173rd as the exercise higher command. Saber Junction 22 has officially begun in Germany with more than 4,400 participants from the U.S., Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

The commanding general for the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa made his first visit to Africa since taking command of the Italy-based headquarters in July. Maj. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund visited military leaders in Morocco and Tunisia August 21-24 to discuss issues of mutual security interest.

Sgt. Eva Perry of the 207th Military Intelligence Brigade, and Spc. Samantha Hengehold, of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, two of the fastest female Soldiers in Europe, are from U.S. Army Garrison Italy.
They proved it recently at the Installation Management Command-Europe level Army Ten-Miler in Grafenwoehr, Germany, placing first and second respectively. The event, held earlier this summer, is the qualifier for the upcoming 38th annual Army Ten-Miler in Washington D.C.
Planning efforts are underway for Justified Accord 2023

This week more than 60 participants from the U.S., Africa partner nations and multinational forces gathered together to continue planning efforts for Justified Accord 2023—U.S. Africa Command’s largest East Africa military training exercise.

Lt. Gen. Laura A. Potter ate lunch at the Caserma Del Din dining facility with Soldiers from the 207th Military Intelligence Brigade - Theater. Potter gave Soldiers the opportunity to ask questions, which ranged from quality of living to specific military intelligence matters.
