The Southern European Task Force-Africa’s Surgeon Directorate hosted a Medical Readiness Exercise (MEDREX) Concept Development Event (CDE), Vicenza, Italy, Sept. 13-17, 2021. Participants worked to set forth the foundation to plan and execute MEDREXs in fiscal year(FY) 2022, and laid out the planning framework for FY 23-26.
“MEDREX is a mutually beneficial program,” said Maj. Gen. Andrew Rohling, SETAF-AF commanding general. “Our U.S. Army medical professionals increase their knowledge, medical readiness, and combat effectiveness. All while providing healing – and sometimes – life-saving care alongside our African partners.”

Cupples joins SETAF-AF, looks to maintain, strengthen relations in Africa

Brig. Gen. Ronald A. Cupples is the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa deputy commanding general from the National Guard component. Cupples joined SETAF-AF on June 1, 2021. He recently represented the command in Kenya at engagements with African partners, and will continue to work to leverage the National Guard State Partnership Programs, utilizing this program to develop partnerships throughout Africa.

54th BEB - Airborne provides support during Operation Allies Refuge

SETAF-AF, USAG Italy volunteers join Italian organizations for Monte Berico cleanup

Thirty-five volunteers from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa joined forces with members of the Italian National Alpini Association of Vicenza “Monte Berico” (Associazione Nazionale Alpini di Vicenza "Monte Berico") and the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta (Corpo Italiano di Soccorso dell'Ordine di Malta) for a cleanup of the Monte Berico porticos on Aug. 28, in Vicenza, Italy.
Led by Col. Matthew J. Gomlak, the U.S. Army Garrison Italy commander, and Lt. Col. John Baker, the SETAF-AF Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion commander, Soldiers, civilians and family members from the Vicenza military community teamed up with Italians to ready the site for the upcoming festivities at the Sanctuary of St. Mary of Mount Berico (Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico), scheduled for Sept. 8.
Vicenza Mayor Francesco Rucco thanked the volunteers who put in the hard work and effort to clean up and beautify one of the most visited landmarks in town.
ND National Guard hosts Ghanaian soldiers during Best Warrior Competition

Ghanaian soldiers visited North Dakota Aug. 9-16, 2021, to attend the Best Warrior Competition, an annual event in which National Guard Soldiers compete and demonstrate their skills.
