Recruiting and retaining female peacekeepers is an operational imperative

GAKO, Rwanda – It was a simple message.
The major theme of Wednesday’s panel discussion, “Women in Peacekeeping Operations,” at the Rwanda Military Academy centered on the notion that women in combat-related roles can make it easier for peacekeepers to reach women and children in conflict areas.
GAKO, Rwanda -- Participants from 15 countries celebrated the conclusion of Shared Accord 2018, a multilateral joint exercise focused on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic, held at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, Rwanda, Aug. 28.

GAKO, Rwanda – Nearly 200 participants from 15 nations gathered for Shared Accord 2018. At the same time, a team of medical professionals packed their bags and deployed to Gako, Rwanda Aug. 12-29, 2018.
Second iteration of U.S.-Led, Somalia Train and Equip mission ends

Soldiers with the 10th Mountain Division, based out of Ft. Drum, New York, recently completed training with soldiers from Somalia’s Danab (Lightning) Advanced Infantry Battalion in the country’s capital region of Mogadishu. This is the second year U.S. Soldiers have provided logistics training and equipment in order to assist building the logistics network of the Somali National Army (SNA).

Welcome to Rwanda's first Medical Readiness Training Exercise

US Soldiers participate in multilateral exercise in East Africa

A crowded room buzzes, as voice overlaps voice, 13 languages, 13 countries, each unique; yet all working towards a common goal. In this room, soldiers, police allies and international organizations will spend two weeks collaborating as they develop command practices to ensure successful peacekeeping operations in East Africa.

Shared Accord 18 strengthens relationships through partnership
