U.S. troops train Cameroonian Armed Forces in Counter-IED

A handful of Soldiers from the 764th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) out of Fort Carson, Colorado, came to Cameroon at the request of U.S Army Africa during Counter Improvised Explosive Device-Defeat Phase I training October 23 to November 17, 2017, to help Cameroonian troops learn more about IEDs and how to dispose of them safely.

The annual tradition was an opportunity to share American culture with soldiers and airmen of the Cameroonian Defense Force. The Soldiers from the U.S. Army Fort Drum & 10th Mountain Division, are in Cameroon to support Cameroon military efforts to combat regional violent extremism from Boko Haram ad ISIS West Africa.

METC Prev-Med Program Graduates First International Military Student from Liberia

Civil Affairs Team 8324 works with Gabonese military and park rangers

Members of the Gabonese Armed Forces and U.S. Army Civil Affairs Team (CAT) 8324, conduct a map reconnaissance and discuss counter illicit trafficking operations, Libreville, Gabon, Sept. 25. The seminar brought Gabonese military and park rangers together with U.S. Civil Affairs personnel to develop methods to build resiliency within vulnerable populations, fostering regional stability and utilizing a whole of government approach to respond to humanitarian and disaster response missions.

USARAF Chaplains participate in operational stress control engagement with RDF personnel

Chaplain (Col.) David Lile and Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Mike Burgess participated in a combat operational stress control (COSC) military-to-military engagement with twenty-one Rwandan medical and military personnel. The engagement was held Sept. 13-17, 2017, in Kigali, Rwanda. There were two proposed takeaways. The first was a solid week of shared tactical training points and engagement with the Rwandan military professionals. The second was an in-depth understanding of the Rwandan model for combat operational stress control.
