The U.S. Army, in partnership with the Senegalese Defence Force, will conduct combined Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) 16-1, in Dakar, Senegal, from January 18-29.
U.S. Army Africa Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Joseph Harrington, recognized a team of Soldiers from the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) for their support in numerous exercises and activities in Africa, Monday at the USARAF Headquarters building on Caserma Ederle.

MEDRETE is a combined effort between the Senegalese government, U.S. Army Africa, the U.S. Army Reserve 332nd Medical Brigade in Nashville, Tenn., and the Vermont Air National Guard. MEDRETE 17-1 is the first in a series of medical readiness training exercises that U.S. Army Africa is scheduled to facilitate within various countries in Africa, and serves as an opportunity for the partnered militaries to hone and strengthen their general surgery and trauma skills while reinforcing the partnership between the countries.
Senegalese and American military medical professionals hosted a closing ceremony on the last day of Medical Readiness Training Exercise 17-1 at the Hospital Militaire De Ouakam in Dakar, Senegal, Jan. 25, to highlight the strengthened partnerships.
